Mr Wong, a specialist in artificial turf, did a great job in installing his high end Belgian turf at Bodmin Drive for my niece house in 2016. It has been 10 years, the grass is still in excellent condition and looks like natural grass. The best advantage is, it is maintenance free.
Garden & lawnHow much does artificial grass cost in Singapore?

Artificial grass cost in Singapore spans a wide range, and the number printed on a roll is only part of the story. Here is what actually sets the price in Singapore dollars, what a finished lawn really includes, and what the cheap option costs you over ten years.
A complete installed artificial grass system in Singapore costs roughly $60 to $100 per square metre. A 60 sqm landed garden therefore lands around $3,600 to $6,000, and a 20 sqm condo balcony around $1,400 to $2,000. The turf on its own sells from about $15 to $55 per square metre, but a roll is not a lawn: the base, the drainage and the installation are what decide whether it still looks right in year ten.
Ten years on, still perfect.
Most turf reviews are written the week it goes down. This one was written a decade later, which is the only test that really matters.
Two lawns can look identical on day one, yet one quote comes in at a fraction of the other. Understanding what moves that number is the difference between a bargain and a false economy.

What a price per square metre actually buys
As a material, artificial grass sells in Singapore from roughly $15 to $55 per square metre. The logic is refreshingly simple: the higher the price, the more grass you get, and most of that difference sits in pile weight. A cheap roll is thin and sparse. A premium one packs far more yarn into the same square metre, which is exactly what makes it look real and last for years.
So a low price is not a discount on the same product. It is a different, lighter product. That is why comparing turf on price alone is misleading unless you compare the specifications underneath it.
Price your own space
Rather than guess, put your area in below. The figures use our real installed rates for a complete Namgrass system, including the base build up, drainage, delivery, installation and the 10 year warranty.
Estimate your installed price
Indicative only, and deliberately honest about it. Access, the state of the existing surface, kerbs, edging, cutting around planters and the amount of spoil to remove all move the final number, which is why we measure before we quote. Small jobs under about 15 sqm carry a minimum charge, so the rate per square metre works out higher.
The five things that move the price
Namgrass' own buying guide is clear that price is directly proportional to what goes into the fibre. Five factors do most of the work:
What you pay for
- Polymer & UV: polyethylene, polypropylene or polyamide fibre, pre-treated with UV stabilisers
- Fibre & latex volume: how many fibres and how much latex backing are applied
- Pile height: taller pile uses more yarn per m²
- Stitch rate: more stitches per metre means a denser, fuller lawn
- Fibre thickness: heavier, thicker yarn resists flattening
Where cheap turf saves
- Thinner, uncertified fibre with weak UV protection
- Less latex and fewer fibres, so a lighter backing
- Shorter pile and a lower stitch count
- Thin yarn that mats down under traffic
- Result: a lower price and a shorter life
The roll is only part of the price
A finished lawn is a system, not a roll. Alongside the turf, an installed price in Singapore covers the foundation, drainage, delivery and skilled installation, which is what decides whether the lawn drains in a monsoon and stays flat and safe underfoot. You can choose which parts to do yourself and which to outsource, but a roll-only price and an installed price are not the same number.
Just the roll
- The turf material only, about $15 to $55 per sqm
- No base or drainage preparation
- No delivery or installation
- Supply-only or DIY finish
Installed system
- Premium Namgrass turf matched to your use
- Drainage-led base built for tropical rain
- Own transport and certified installation
- Maintenance advice and a 10-year warranty
The ten year cost, not the day one price
A search for artificial grass in Singapore turns up rolls at $9.90 a square metre. That price is real, and it buys a roll, not a lawn. Compare it honestly, installed against installed, over the ten years a garden actually has to survive. The example below uses a 60 sqm garden.
| Over ten years | Budget carpet grass | Premium Namgrass installed |
|---|---|---|
| Installed rate | About $25 to $40 / sqm | About $60 to $100 / sqm |
| Cost each time it is laid | About $1,500 to $2,400 | About $3,600 to $6,000 |
| Realistic lifespan | 2 to 4 years | 15 to 20 years |
| Times you pay in a decade | 3 times, plus removal and disposal | Once |
| How it looks at year five | Faded, flattened, seams lifting | Still even, still green, still under warranty |
| Ten year outlay | About $4,500 to $7,200 | About $3,600 to $6,000 |
Based on a 60 sqm garden and three replacement cycles, which is what a two to four year lifespan means over a decade. Disposal, the labour to strip the old surface and the years spent looking at a tired lawn are not priced in, and all three fall on the cheaper column.
Divide the price by what you actually get
A cheap roll at about $20 per square metre next to premium Namgrass at about $55 looks like an easy decision, and that single comparison is the only one most sellers invite you to make. It treats two different products as though they were the same thing. The fair test is price divided by what the square metre contains, and every way you divide it, the premium roll is the cheaper one.
Shorter bar means cheaper per unit. Both rows are turf material only, so the only thing that differs is the quality each dollar buys.
Assumptions. Cheap carpet grass at about $20 per sqm with roughly 8,000 stitches per sqm, about 800 hours of UV-A tested, little or no warranty and a realistic 2 to 3 year life in Singapore. Premium Namgrass Exbury 30mm at about $55 per sqm with 28,980 stitches per sqm, more than 3,000 hours of UV-A tested, a 10 year warranty and a realistic 15 year life. Turf material only, so no base, drainage or installation is included on either side.
The spec you are actually buying
The breakdown above only works because a premium square metre holds far more than a budget one. This is what the money buys, and what the cheap roll quietly leaves out.
| Spec | Premium Namgrass | Cheap carpet grass |
|---|---|---|
| Turf price per sqm | About $55 | About $20 |
| Tuft density | 28,980 stitches / sqm | About 8,000 stitches / sqm |
| Pile weight | 1,428 g / sqm | About 900 g / sqm |
| UV stability | More than 3,000 hours UV-A tested | About 800 hours |
| Colour tones | Four tone realism | Single flat tone |
| Warranty | 10 years, installed | Little or none |
| Real life in Singapore sun | 15 to 20 years | 2 to 3 years |
| After three years | Lush, upright, true colour | Matted, shiny, faded |

How to compare quotes fairly
Two quotes are only comparable when they cover the same thing. Before you judge on price, ask: What is the pile weight and pile height? Is the yarn UV-stabilised and safety-certified? Does the price include base, drainage and installation, or just the roll? What warranty is included, and does it cover colour? A cheap number that skips the base and drainage will cost more once you add them back.
