Mr Wong, a specialist in artificial turf, did a great job installing his high-end Belgian turf at Bodmin Drive for my niece's house in 2016. It's been 10 years and the grass is still in excellent condition and looks like natural grass. The best advantage is that it is maintenance free.
Best artificial grass in Singapore, backed by a 10-year warranty.
Every supplier in Singapore says theirs is the best. Almost none will tell you how to check. So here is the honest version: five tests you can run on any sample, in any showroom, before you spend a cent. Judge us by them too. We supply premium Belgian Namgrass, we have installed it across more than 1,700 projects since 2008, and we back the full installed system for 10 years.

Wong helped us resurface our garden and lay new turf a few weeks ago and we are extremely happy with the result. Wong was very helpful discussing all our options and communicating on start dates and the work involved. His team were professional and did a great job. They even helped lay some extra turf up the side of our house, which was left over from the job. Everyone has been complimenting our garden since! Thank you
Safe for the kids and pets, and when our tenancy ended the floor underneath was left perfectly clean no marks at all. The team was tidy and professional from start to finish.
Did the artificial grass installation for my office. Mr Wong is very nice and responsible. He answered all my questions patiently and the result looks fantastic. Highly recommend.
There is no single best roll. There is a best spec for your space.
A 40 mm lawn turf is the wrong answer for a gym, and a 14 mm sports pile is the wrong answer for a bungalow garden. Anyone who quotes you one product for every space has not asked enough questions. What does stay constant is quality: the yarn, the tuft lock, the density, the UV package and the warranty behind the installed system. Get those five right and the space decides the rest.
Five tests for any artificial grass sample.
Run these on every sample you are shown, ours included. They take about a minute and they separate premium turf from a roll that will be torn out in two years.
1. The tuft-lock pull
Grip a tuft between finger and thumb and pull firmly. On cheap turf whole tufts come away in your hand because the fibres were never locked into the backing. Premium turf holds fast, which is what keeps a lawn intact under children, dogs and a lawn rake.
2. The fibre bend
Fold a single blade back on itself and let go. Shaped yarn, the C, S, W and XST profiles Namgrass weaves, springs upright again. Flat tape yarn keeps the crease, and a lawn full of creased fibres is what a flattened, shiny traffic lane looks like at year two.
3. The density check
Push your fingers down into the pile. If you reach the backing easily the turf is thinly tufted and will look sparse the moment it is walked on. Density is where cheap rolls save their money, because yarn is the expensive part.
4. The UV question
Ask for the UV stability data, not a reassurance. Singapore sits on the equator and sun is what kills turf here. Namgrass yarn is UV-stabilised and tested for it, which is the difference between a lawn that is still green at year eight and one that has gone grey and brittle.
5. The warranty in writing
Ask what is covered, for how long, and whether it covers the installation or only the roll. A product-only warranty is worth very little, because most failures are seams, edges and drainage. Ours is 10 years on the full installed system.
And one bonus test
Ask who is actually laying it. Many suppliers sell the roll and subcontract the install, so when a seam opens there is nobody to call. We design, supply and install with one team, so there is one number and one accountable name.
What the five tests actually reveal.
The same comparison, run on the budget rolls sold by the square foot and on the premium system we install.
| The test | Budget artificial grass | Premium Namgrass, installed by ibuild |
|---|---|---|
| Tuft lock | Fibres pull out by hand | Locked backing, holds under a firm pull |
| Yarn shape | Flat tape yarn, creases and stays creased | Shaped C, S, W and XST fibres that spring back |
| Density | Thinly tufted, backing shows through | Densely tufted, specified to the space |
| UV stability | No test data offered | UV-stabilised and lab tested for equatorial sun |
| Warranty | Product only, if anything | 10 years on the full installed system |
| Who installs it | Subcontracted, changes job to job | One in-house team, 18 years, no subcontractors |
| Typical life in Singapore | Two to three years before replacement | Still performing at ten years and beyond |
Based on what we find when we are called in to tear out failed budget installs, which we do regularly.
Then match the specification to the space.
Once quality is settled, pile height and density are decided by what the surface has to do.
- Garden and lawn, 30 to 40 mm. Full-bodied and natural underfoot, dense enough to stay upright on an open lawn. See garden turf
- Balcony and condo, 25 to 35 mm. Shorter pile reads cleaner in a small space and is easier to keep tidy. See balcony turf
- Rooftop and sky deck, 30 to 40 mm. Lightweight build-up over a drainage layer so the slab stays dry. See rooftop turf
- Playground and childcare, 25 to 40 mm with a shockpad. Specified to critical fall height and EN 71-3 lead-free. See playground turf
- Putting green, 13 to 15 mm. Short, dense and true-rolling, built over real contours. See putting greens
- Sports pitch, 40 to 60 mm. The Namsports range, tested and approved to FIFA standards. See sports turf
- Gym and studio, 14 mm, no infill. Grippy, quiet and nothing to sweep onto the rubber. See gym turf
- Office and retail, 20 to 30 mm. Hard-wearing commercial turf that survives daily footfall. See indoor turf

The turf chosen for a FIFA pitch and a five-star resort.
Marina Bay Sands, Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa and the FIFA 2-Star certified pitch at Jalan Besar Stadium all specified the same premium Namgrass we lay in private gardens. Those clients test surfaces before they buy them, which is a stronger endorsement than anything we could write here.
